Over 70 families attended the annual JDRF Family Party on Friday night before the walk. They were treated to a fun carnival theme with games and wonderful prizes organized by 2009 Walk Family Team Chair, Cyndi McCoy. Newly diagnosed families from Ponotoc to Biloxi met with families, board members and sponsors for a funfilled evening! Chris and Janet Grillis grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for this family inclusive event. Many thanks to the attendees for making this year’s event the best ever!!!!!

The 2009 Walk to Cure Diabetes was held on Saturday, October 24 at Mayes Lake at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. Over 1,500 attended the Walk and an astounding $530,000 was raised to support needed research to improve the lives of everyone living with diabetes. The kids all had a fabulous time and enjoyed “their day.” Of course, the Mississippi Chapter could not have supported such a great event without the help of our generous sponsors, wonderful volunteers, and dedicated participants.
